Corcovado National Park has one of the highest levels of biodiversity in the world. So come and experience this tropical rainforest like no other, then trekking through some of the most incredible flora and fauna of this National park. The level of this hike is challenging.

What to bring

Backpack, plastic water bottle, water filter, rain coat/ poncho, cotton shirts (long& short sleeves), sunscreen, hat, insect repellent, quick-drying clothes, spare pairs of socks, flashlight, hiking shoes & mosquito net.


Day 01: Osa Peninsula (D)

You arrive in Puerto Jimenez on your own account by around lunch-time. A  ½ hour transfer along beautiful remote beaches and through rainforests to Carate, the wildest and most remote region on the mainland. Where else can you wake up in the rainforest with the sound of waves crashing only a few steps away?!


Accommodation: Los Mineros Guesthouse Camp (D)


Day 02: Hike Rangerstation Dos Brazos to Carate Beach (B-L-D)

Corcovado National Park has one of the highest levels of biodiversity in the world. The climate is very hot and humid which enables the trees to grow to heights of 70 meters. The park contains a fourth of the tree species of Costa Rica. Corcovado National Park encompasses eight habitats from mangrove swamp to rain forest. The park protects over 400 species of birds, 116 species of amphibians and reptiles and 139 mammals. We will depart early in the morning to begin the long, hot hike through the forest where monkeys play in the trees above our heads and ant bears can be seen through the bushes. The hiking time is approximately 7 hours.


Accommodation: Leona Tent Camp (Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner)

Day 03: Hike N.P Corcovado Section Rio Madrigal (B-L-D)

Your base camp overlooks a spectacular, wild tropical beach surrounded by a vast rain forest wilderness. Habitat of jaguar, tapir, squirrel monkey, peccaries and a healthy population of scarlet macaws, this is one of the best places in Central America to watch wildlife. Today you hike and explore the surrounding environment.


Accommodation: Leona Tent Camp at Corcovado National Park (Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner) 

Day 04: Hike around Carate (B-L)

We will depart early in the morning to begin the long, hot hike through dense rain forest around Carate Beach. After lunch we will be transported to Puerto Jiménez.


Accommodation: Cabinas Marcelina or similar (Breakfast & Box lunch)

Day 05: Return to San Jose (B)

After breakfast, return to San Jose on your own, or continue to your next destination.

Hiking level Challenging. Minimum to operate 2 pax. 

All tours to Corcovado depend on the condition of the trails. In times of a lot of rain your guide may change the hikes without previous notice in order to be able to assure the security of our guests

The trail conditions are: On the sand along the beach, up and over coastal headlands, through streams, slippery up and down and muddy slopes.
