Central Valley - Poas
Poas Volcano Lodge

Poas Volcano Lodge is a stunning and unique mountain lodge nestled into rolling pastures, with breathtaking views of Poas Volcano and the northern Caribbean Plains. The eleven en-suite bedrooms, some with balconies to enjoy the majestic views and others with their own private garden backing onto the cloud forest, are divided between the main Lodge and the outside Garden Rooms.

The Lodge is located on a farm, on the edge of Poas Volcano National Park, with easy access to the delightful local villages and attractions. It is only 45 minutes away from San José (Juan Santamaria) Airport making Poas Volcano Lodge an ideal choice of stay for those just arriving or about to depart Costa Rica.

At Poas Volcano Lodge our ambition is to offer you the most authentic experience of a mountain Lodge in the Costa Rican cloud forest. You are welcome to enjoy the nature trails we have created through the farm, where we have areas of virgin cloud forest, and where you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse the Resplendent Quetzal.

At the Lodge you will be warmly welcomed and made to feel very much at home. We encourage you to enjoy a relaxing time sitting by the fire in our Library or Sitting room, a game of pool or chess in the Games’ room, or a film in our Media room. Whether you are travelling with family or friends, there is something here for everyone to enjoy.

Rooms

The eleven comfortable and elegant rooms plus The Field House, some of which are newly refurbished, each have their own character and individuality. They include six spacious, luxury, bedrooms with King or Queen beds and elegant en suite bathrooms; three of which have balconies overlooking the sweeping views towards Poas Volcano. The other three bedrooms have private gardens and are just steps away from the cloud forest. The remaining five bedrooms are located a few steps from the Lodge in the outside Garden Rooms.

Food

The Bromelia Restaurant and Bar

The Bromelia Restaurant and Bar serves a mixture of European and traditional Costa Rican dishes with ingredients which are locally sourced wherever possible. We are passionate about our food. For breakfast, we bake our own bread and make our own granola, a Cannon family recipe, which is a firm favourite. We make our own jam from the locally grown strawberries and the milk is collected every morning from the Lodge’s dairy. We are happy to prepare a light lunch for you or we can organise a picnic for you to take with you. In the evening we offer an à la carte dinner, which always has a vegetarian option. We want your children to enjoy their dinner too, so we are happy to offer variations on the menu wherever possible.
