What to bring

Clothing: Costa Rica is a very informal and casual country. Formal attire is only used in the city of San Jose and on very special occasions (Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries) We recommend to bring a sweater for the highland areas, and light loose fitting shirts, pants or jeans, and shorts for the lowland areas. For the beach areas please dont forget to bring a hat or cap, sunscreen, and sun glasses. For the rainforest and the National Parks we recommend hiking boots, a small backpack, water bottle, pocket knife, flashlight, insect repellent, rainwear, and a pair of binoculars to observe animals.

Day 01: Arrival in San Jose

Meet and greet at the international airport and transfer to Bougainvillea for your first night in Costa Rica

Overnight at Bougainvillea Standard Room

Day 02: San José – Tortuguero (B-L-D)

Early morning pick up for the drive through the Braulio Carrillo National Park to the canals lining the Atlantic Coast, where the two-hour boat trip to Tortuguero starts. A typical breakfast is served on the way. Tortuguero National Park, with its 21,000 hectares of preserved tropical rain forest, provides one of the best opportunities to experience a wide range of tropical wildlife.

Arrive at the lodge for lunch. Afterwards take a hiking trip around the hotel property. It is amazing how so nearby your room you can find different kinds of monkeys, sloths, iguanas, poison arrow frogs and many birds and insects including the blue butterfly (Morpho peleides).

In the evening, after a delicious meal, you will relax along the canals edge with a cocktail and enjoy the night sounds of the jungle.

Overnight at Laguna Lodge, standard room. All "Family style" meals included.

Day 03: Tortuguero Canals (B-L-D)

After breakfast, guests will enjoy a guided boat tour along the canals of Tortuguero national park. Entrance fee to Tortuguero National Park included.

Visit the canals within the National park to discover a large variety of birds and receive detailed information on the flora and fauna of the area.

Return to the lodge for lunch.

The lodge will then schedule a tour to the village in the afternoon. This tour will provide detailed information on its history, culture and work in favor of conservation of the sea turtles and the flora and fauna in general.

The entrance fee to the Caribbean Conservation office (CCC) is not included. USD 2 per person has to be paid directly to the CCC

Overnight at Laguna Lodge, standard room. All "Family style" meals included.

Day 04: Tortuguero – Sarapiqui (B-L)

After breakfast, return by boat to the dock near Limón, then overland to Guápiles where you will stop for lunch. After lunch, you will be transferred under private basis to the Sarapiqui area

Day 05: Private Pozo Azul hike – Arenal (B-L)

After breakfast, time to explore under private basis with a naturalist guide the rainforest at the Pozo Azul Trails.

Hiking is an excellent way to both exercise and be close to the environment.

On the 2000 acres of tropical rain forest of Hacienda Pozo Azul you can use many hiking routes designed to give you exactly what you want or need. Hiking does not require you to have be special physical condition or a particular age. Hacienda Pozo Azul has submitted all its 400 acres of forested areas to the Costa Rican government program for natural resource protection and conservation, therefore great part of our trails are located within this forests. Because of their nature we request that you use a naturalist guide on the trails to help take full advantage of the fascinating and rich neotropical biodiversity during your hike. We know you will be fascinated with your experience.

Afternoon private transfer to the Arenal area.

Visit one of the most impressive volcanoes of the world, cloud forests, a lake world-famous for windsurfing and an incredibly diverse population of wildlife is what you will find in this area.

Day 06: Shared Arenal Hanging Bridges (B-D)

Located in a 250 hectare (618 acre) reserve of primary forest. Visitors will walk through 15 bridges from 5 to 100 meters long, along 3 km rain forest circuit of trails built with paving blocks to prevent slipping. Tour is guided by a naturalist, who will open the doors of a fascinating and colorful Tropical Rain Forest world. The imposing vistas of the Volcano from the hanging bridges over the forest, make a perfect combination for an unforgettable experience.

Afternoon Shared Arenal Volcano Hike & Ecotermales Hot Springs
The Arenal Volcano was active since 1968 and reduces its activity since November 2009. It continues ejecting gases and fumaroles. A short hike in one of the trails close to the volcano area will give us the chance to enjoy some forest and the activity around it. At the Ecotermales hot springs, you can enjoy a healthy and relaxing soak.

Includes: Transportation, naturalist guide, entrance fee to hot springs & dinner.

Day 07: Private transfer to San Jose, visit on route Rainforest Mysteries Tour at Finca Luna Nueva w lunch (B).

You will be picked up at  your hotel and visit Finca Luna Nueva lodge for a wonderful rainforest hike.


This is an educational walk along a handicap accessible path, where you will enjoy nature while learning about one of the world’s most diverse habitats. Our expert guide will lead you through our private rainforest reserve in Costa Rica that sloths, snakes, poison dart frogs, and numerous birds call home. For those who love exuberant rainforests and lush foliage; birding, reptiles, mammals, invertebrates and other creatures in their natural habitats in this pristine Costa Rica primary rainforest.


What to bring: Quick dry clothing or poncho, socks, sun block, mosquito repellent, camera.

Includes: Entrance fee, rubber boots, and professional bilingual guides.

Continue  to San Jose under private basis and check-in at Hotel Presidente for your last night in Costa Rica. Breakfast included.
