What’s New This April: Fresh Updates Across the Costa Rica Portfolio

April brings several updates across the Costa Rica portfolio

New places to stay, new ways to spend a day, and a few practical upgrades that will make a difference on the ground. Here’s what’s changed, and where it fits.

New Tented Camp: Auralta Río Celeste, Tenorio

Opening in December 2026, this new tented camp sits in native forest near Tenorio, with views toward the surrounding volcanoes from each tent’s terrace. The property includes 20 units across three categories — suite tents designed for couples, along with deluxe tents and two larger family tents — all with air conditioning and private outdoor space.

Set on 14 hectares with exclusive access to a stretch of the Río Celeste riverbank, it suits guests who want to stay in the forest while still having air conditioning and full-service facilities. Guests move around the property by golf cart, with a central restaurant, bar, pool, and massage rooms set among the forest.

Best suited to couples and older families (12+), with a two-night minimum.

Las Villas Manoa, Arenal

Arenal’s newest addition is a collection of private villas — three now available for booking — each with its own pool and a jacuzzi positioned for direct views of the volcano at sunset. It’s a strong fit for families, milestone trips, or couples who want complete privacy at the end of the day.

Senda Monteverde: A New Reason to Linger

Senda Monteverde has introduced a thermal and water circuit (March 2026), set into the hillside among existing trees and streams. Guests can move between warm pools after a day on the trails — an easy way to slow the pace without leaving the property.

La Ruta Cultural: A Different Kind of Arenal Day

About 25 minutes from La Fortuna, this seven-hour day takes guests through the Arenal countryside — visiting farms focused on stingless bees, organic cacao, and passion fruit, then ending with a wood-fired lunch at a local rancho. It’s a quieter alternative to the main Arenal sites, and one that tends to stay with guests.

The Shared Table at Casa Paniagua

A new shared-table format: one seating, ten guests, five courses served inside the working kitchen. Guests dine just steps from the chefs, with time for conversation between courses — best suited to travelers who enjoy a more social, food-focused experience.

Santa Lucia Jungle Hacienda, Tárcoles

About 90 minutes from San José, on the edge of Carara National Park, this new property works well as a first or final night. Riverfront rooms offer regular sightings of scarlet macaws and capuchin monkeys from the balcony.

Two Updates Worth Noting

VIP Fast Track is now available at Liberia International Airport, offering priority through immigration, security, and customs.

Playa Cativo has added air conditioning to two of its Luxury Casitas with plunge pools.
