Rincon de la Vieja National Park is named after its active volcano which is passing through a period of relative calm. It is composed of nine volcanic craters and you can easily reach its boiling mud pools, blue lagoons and sulfurous hot springs and watch its fumaroles and steam vents.
The park protects more than 177 sq. kilometers of mostly tropical dry forest where you can find a variety of natural miracles. In this area you will experience a variety of colors, textures, and scents. In the lower slopes you can hike through trails that lead through cloud forests and links to thermal waters pools where you can bathe and take advantage of its curative properties. Other trails lead to hidden blue waterfalls where you will experience a combination of cold and hot sulfur water and find a perfect swimming hole at its base.
Endless tours are offered from the lodges including canopy, horseback riding, ATV, hiking, hotsprings, and birding tours.
