Sendero Tranquilo is part of 210 acre private wildlife preserve in the very heart of Monteverde, covering both lowerand wet montane and premontane wet virgin cloud forest.

You begin your walk at an expansive overlook of the Gulf of Nicoya surrounded by 1800 newly-planted saplings of then species critical to the disappearing habitadof many altitudinal migrants including the Resplandent Quetzal.

Your experienced, highly competent bilingual guide will orient you to the history and importance of the area and encourage your questions. You follow a circle of natural trails into the depths of the forest where you will learn of the relationships and critical roles of this amazingly complex and diverse habitat.

You can be sure there are many pairs of eyes following your progress, and your tour guide is an expert in tropical flora and fauna and the habitatsof our local insects, birds and animal life.
