Probably the biggest attraction is its famous Arenal volcano which erupts 3 to 4 times every 45 minutes. There are a couple of hiking tours avialble in the area which takes you to the closest point to admire this magnificent colossal.
Near the volcano you will find the largest lake in Costa Rica, Lake Arenal. On Lake Arenal you will be able to practice windsurfing, kayaking, boating and fishing.
Very close you can take a horseback riding tour to La Fortuna Waterfalls, an impressive 230 feet (70 meters) waterfall where you can take a refreshing plunge in its crystalline waters.
