What to bring:
Clothing: Costa Rica is a very informal and casual country. Formal attire is only used in the city of San Jose and on very special occasions (Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries)
We recommend to bring a sweater for the highland areas, and light loose fitting shirts, pants or jeans, and shorts for the lowland areas.
For the beach areas please don´t forget to bring a hat or cap, sunscreen, and sun glasses.
For the rainforest and the National Parks we recommend hiking boots, a small backpack, water bottle, pocket knife, flashlight, insect repellent, rainwear, and a pair of binoculars to observe animals.

Day 1 Arrival / San Jose
Arrive by air into San Jose. Upon arrival a Costa Rican Trails representative will meet you at the gate and provide you with a welcome kit on Costa Rica.
Transfer to Hotel Alta, in the suburbs of San Jose.
Overnight at the Alta Hotel in deluxe accommodations(B).
Day 2 White Water Rafting - Pacuare
In the morning, you will be picked up at the hotel and taken to the Pacuare River, where you will enjoy a day´s excitement on a whitewater rafting trip. (Class III/IV) (B/L)
Day 3 Villa Caletas Jaco Beach
Morning transfer to romantic and dramatic Villas Caletas Hotel near Jaco Beach on the west coast. The three hour trip descends from the mountains to sea-level. Along the way, you will pass through coffee plantations and orchid farms.

Two nights at Villa Caletas Hotel, junior suite. Open for optional activities.
Day 5 Makanda by the Sea – Manuel Antonio
Mid-morning transfer to tropical and artistic Makanda by The Sea in Manuel Antonio
