Located approximately 2-3 hours away from San José, this region offers some of the most attractive beaches and terrain that the country offers. The vegetation changes dramatically from transitional forest in its northern section to pure rainforest in its southern part.

How to get there:
From San Jose
Take the Panamerican Highway #1 North
towards San Ramon / Puntarenas. You will pass the International airport. Stay on the Panamerican road for about 10-15 minutes more, until you see an exit for a town called Atenas. There is a sign that reads Atenas / Orotina / Jaco. Take this exit and turn left immediately driving towards to Atenas/Orotina/ Jacó. Once in Orotina follow the signs to Jaco and Quepos/ Manuel Antonio Nat. Park. On the way stop at the Tarcoles Bridge to take a look at the crocodiles. Please be be aware of your unattended car!!! Continue South and you will find the Carara National Park which is a great place to spot wildlife and the Scarlet Macaw (red parrot). Continue through the road and signs until you reach Jaco beach.
