Selva Bananito is a secluded rainforest lodge located 40 minutes away from Puerto Limón in the middle of a 850 hectares private property with two thirds of the land dedicated to a primary rain forest reserve. The other third of the lodge's land (about 416 hectares or 1,000 acres) is devoted to low-impact, sustainable agriculture and cattle management. The private reserve which Selva Bananito supports, is only a 10-minute walk from the lodge and it offers a rain forest study program for high school and college students, a Spanish immersion program as well as nature and adventure tours. In order to minimize the impact of tourists on this pristine rain forest environment, the reserve allows only a small number of visitors at one time.
The lodge's cabins stand on stilts, in a traditional Caribbean style which reduces moisture inside the buildings and improves the view and ventilation. The hotel has a rancho with a nice dining area where meals are served, bar and a small library.
Guests at Selva Bananito will enjoy guided rain forest tours, outstanding bird watching or rappeling down a jungle waterfall. They will explore the canopy of gigantic trees, cool off in clean streams before taking a horseback ride through a sea of greens, sip a refreshing local drink while listening to the sounds of the night or visit nearby beaches.
