No matter what area of the country that you are visiting, you'll find an interesting assortment of all types and varieties of half and full day tours, most of them leaving daily from their local area. 



Whether this is your first vacation to Costa Rica, or you are visiting again to enjoy more of our National Parks, rivers, or maybe museums in San Jose, you will find the list below helpful in finding the right area and the right tour for you. 



The list is arranged according to the six commonly recognized geographical regions of Costa Rica. You can find your half or full day tour, activity or interest, and then you'll know where to book your hotel. Full day, out of the area tours are also available from each location if you decide to stay put in a favorite hotel. Good hunting and touring

 

 

Central Valley: After your fill of activities at the beach or in the mountains, come and relax in the Central Highlands and visit the captivating Gold Museum, The National Theater, or take a San Jose city tour and see it all. If you're staying in San Jose, there are many full day tours available, like to Arenal / Tabacon Hot Springs, or pristine Tortuga Island on the Calypso Catamaran Cruise. The Central Valley area also encompasses the active and bubbling Poas Volcano, and the Irazu Volcano. For the seasoned eco-adventurer, try you hand at "canyoning" - rappelling down the face of a warm waterfall! Check the menus for many more things to do and activities in a safe eco-tour environment!

Central Valley Areas: Irazu Volcano / Turrialba, San Gerardo de Dota, San Jose.

 

North Pacific: If you like to surf, fish, SCUBA dive, or any beach activity for that matter, then this is the sun capital of Costa Rica! Take a world class sportfishing charter, a sunset cruise near Papagayo, a whitewater river rapids ride on a half day or full day tour. Or, visit a turtle nesting beach / National Park.

North Pacific Areas: Flamingo / Conchal Beach, Nosara / Samara, Papagayo Gulf, Rincon de la Vieja, Tamarindo.

 

Cental Pacific: If you'd love to dabble in surf lessons, night life and nature tours, then Jaco Beach will offer all of these. Manuel Antonio National Park is the most popular park in the country. If you're staying in stunning Manuel Antonio, nearby are fishing charters leaving from Quepos. Tour activities include a butterfly farm, several canopy tours, then a Class III and IV whitewater rapids river ride, or sea kayaking, for the more adventurous!

Central Pacific Areas: Jaco Beach, Manuel Antonio.

 

South Pacific: The Osa Peninsula is one of the last great jungle / wilderness areas of Costa Rica, and here, everything is nature and natural! Wild waterfall tours, dolphin and whale watching, botanical gardens, kayaking, horseback riding and SCUBA are the order of the day. Take a guided, hiking eco-tour through the incredibly biologically diverse and giant, Corcovado National Park.

South Pacific Areas: Dominical.

 

Caribbean region: The Caribbean Region is blessed with the Tortuguero Canals as a vacation destination in itself. Birdwatching, fishing charters and turtle nesting tours are popular here. In the Puerto Viejo / Cahuita area, get ready to surf, look for dolphins, take a canopy tour and visit the Cahuita National Park and Beach.

Northern Zone: One of the most astounding natural attractions is the Arenal Volcano. Guided tours are available inside the restricted zone, horseback riding, and even river rafting. There are several nature / birdwatching tours in the Monteverde Cloud Forest, as well as canopy Tours and butterfly gardens. Try river rafting and rapelling in Sarapiqui and other truly adventurous activities.
