FLAMINGO BEACH, A PARADISE ON EARTH

Flamingo Beach is located in Guanacaste, just 47 miles (76 km) southwest of the city of Liberia.

Flamingo Beach is famous for its white sands and blue crystal waters, water sports, national parks and eco-tourism. This ecological natural beach has been awarded a "blue flag" due to its water cleanliness and preservation efforts.

The dry tropical scenery of the area contrasts with the luxurious hotels and resorts, restaurants and shops. There are plenty of beach hotels in this area, from standard nice and cozy beach hotels to all inclusive mega beach resorts. There is a hotel option for everybody!!

At Flamingo, visitors can enjoy water sports such as snorkeling, Kayaking, Jet skiing and sport fishing, or just relax around the soft sand and get a tan under the sun.

Besides, visitors can go riding on horseback along the beach or rent an ATV or just walk around this striking area. Brasilito and Potrero are the nearest beaches, where visitors can also have hotels and restaurants, and at night, Flamingo also offers a very active night life.

HOW TO GET THERE

Driving from San Jose, takes approximately 5 hours. From San Jose through Liberia, if you are coming from the Juan Santamaria International Airport, take the Inter Panamerican Highway north to Liberia. The trip is 135 miles and should take 4 hours, depending on traffic. Arriving in Liberia you will come to a traffic light on the highway with 2 gas stations, a Burger King and a Papa John’s on the corner. Turn left and follow the signs to Belén and Tamarindo. Once you arrive to Belen, continue driving to Huacas which is about half an hour drive. From there, you will follow the signs to Tamarindo, Flamingo, Conchal, Sugar Beach,Potrero, Avellanas and Langosta.

It is very close to other locations: 12.5 miles from Marino Las Baulas National Park, nesting grounds of the leatherback turtles; 5 miles from Gare de Leon, a world-renowned golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jr.; 42 miles from the quaint town of Guaitil, famous for its handcrafted pottery and art; a 45 minute drive from Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport in Liberia and 3 hours drive from Santa Rosa and Rincon de la Vieja National Parks.
