/

The Lodge serves as the restaurant, bar and tour center. From there you will start all of your safaris, while being able to enjoy the pool and water slide and experience some amazing birding.

Tours available leaving from Dominical

Let the Boshoff family, with Carlo and Janel as your hosts, treat you to a South African "braai" (barbeque) cooked on their grill, accompanied by side dishes, or enjoy other fabulous cuisine prepared by our resident chef.

At The lekker Bar & Braai, enjoy a tasty beverage while being enchanted by the natural beauty that Rafiki has to offer.

The lodge is nestled on a natural plateau with ten luxury tents situated near by, each with its own spectacular view of the pristine mountains. Their luxury Safari tents are set atop hardwood decks, each with rocking chairs, so guests can sit back and admire the view in privacy. They were imported from South Africa and the tent's design lets you experience nature up close while keeping the insects at bay. Each unit features its own modern, complete bathroom. They comfortably sleep up to four people. The large windows bring the sounds and the smells of the forest in, while the canvas walls keep the creepies and the elements out. Enjoy the magnificent views from your private porch! Our showers are fire heated to take the chill out of the spring water.

Whether you are on your honeymoon, want to bring a group of friends and family, or business associates, Rafiki provides the perfect atmosphere. While our property is a nature retreat... it is hardly roughing it!

How To Get There

By car, it is a pleasant 4-5 hr. trip through what is considered the scenic mountains of the Cerro de La Muerte. From San Jose, take the Pan American Highway South towards Cartago, following sign to San Isidro and to Dominical. As an alternate coastal route from San Jose, leave the Juan Santamaria International Airport near Alajuela and drive west to Orotina, Jaco and Quepos. Drive south from Quepos (Manuel Antonio National Park) to Dominical along the coastal road. This route requires 4-6 hrs. From Dominical, get onto the main road going north. You will pass over the river, then pass the police check point. The paved road will veer to the right, but you need to go straight. You will pass Hacienda Baru, a gas station, the towns of Hatillo, Matapalo, and Portalon. You will see a sign for the Savegre river as you approach it, then turn right. Later you will soon see a small sign for Rafiki then come up to a narrow concrete bridge. Continue up this road until you get to the town of Silencio. Once in Silencio, you will see some more signs to Rafiki. Keep going until you get to Santo Domingo. From here the road gets more exciting, you are only 3 kilometers from Rafiki. Pay attention to the corners as the road is a bit narrow, you are now in the heart of the Savegre.
