Day 01, Wednesday: Arrival to Panama City

Upon arrival to Panama you will be met at the airport by our representative and transferred to your city hotel. Panama City is the capital and largest city in Panama. It is home to a diverse blend of cultures and a vast historical sector in the Old City, a district famous for its Spanish fortifications and several colonial buildings. Panama City is a location you will surely enjoy during your visit to this gorgeous country!

Day 02, Thursday: Panama City Tour (B)
:
Today, you will have a tour of this cosmopolitan city. Enjoy the gorgeous view of the skyscrapers, the noble mansions and the green hills. Then you will visit a small marketplace where you can find lovely Indian handicrafts. Afterwards, you will go along the shore into the old part of the town called Casco Antiguo. There, you will walk to the main buildings and landmarks: the President Palace, the remarkable cathedral and the San Jose church with its splendorous altar. The trip leads afterwards to the Causeway, from where you will enjoy a wonderful view of Panamas skyline and Miraflores Locks of the Panama Canal.

Day 03, Friday: Embera Indians (B, L)

In the morning, you will be driven up north towards Lake Alajuela. Once there, you will board a small boat, which will take you to Chagres River. You will see lush jungle and exotic wildlife during your journey. While visiting the Embera Indians, you will be set back in time, as you observe the culture of people who have preserved their traditions for hundreds of years.

Day 04, Saturday: Partial crossing of the Panama Canal (B, L)

In the morning, enjoy a partial* crossing of the historical Panama Canal. You will pass different Locks and receive interesting information about the history of the Canal. You will see the enormous cargo ships manoeuvre through the canal. Afterwards, you will have lunch on the ship. After you return to the hotel, you will have the rest of the afternoon to spend at your leisure.

*Every 3rd Saturday of the month you can do a complete canal crossing for an additional $45 per person.
Day 05, Sunday: Departure (B)

What to Bring:
- Clothing: Panama is a very informal and casual country. Formal attire is only used in Panama City and on very special occasions (Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries)
- We recommend to bring a sweater for the highland areas, and light loose fitting shirts, pants or jeans, and shorts for the lowland areas.
- For the beach areas please don't forget to bring a hat or cap, sunscreen, and sun glasses.
- For the rainforest and the National Parks we recommend hiking boots, a small backpack, water bottle, pocket knife, flashlight, insect repellent, rainwear, and a pair of binoculars to observe animals.
