The restaurant is a cozy wooden lounge with ample space. It has teak wood floors and wide windows with spectacular views of the mountain. The Trapp Family Lodge is strategically set in a small private reserve just a few minutes away from the Monteverde Cloud Forest. The Lodge is in a small private reserve surrounded by a paradise of flora and fauna.
The lodge is ideal for visitors who enjoy being in a cozy family atmosphere. It has a rustic style with wooden rooms and panoramic views of the surrounding cloud forest. In a typical day at Trapp Family Lodge, guests will start their day to the unique chirpings of hundreds of birds and then enjoy a delicious early breakfast. Once they are fuelled up, they can go for a walk through the gorgeous cloud forest surrounding the hotel in search for quetzals. In the afternoon they will choose between visiting the Monteverde reserve, an adrenaline sky trek or canopy tour or horseback riding around the area.
Monteverde, Puntarenas
The Trapp Family Lodge is located in Monteverde. If you drive to Monteverde from San Jose you need to take the Inter American Highway, the same one that passes Juan Santamaria International Airport, and follow the signs to Puntarenas and then to Cañas and Bagaces. Stay on this road and right before the bridge at río Lagartos there is a gravel road to the right. At this point you will have travelled 100 miles (160 km) from San Jose. Take this right turn and travel 22 miles (35 km) of gravel road all the way up to Santa Elena and Monteverde. Once you get to the Village of Santa Elena you will travel 2.5 miles (4 km) towards Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Once at Santa Elena you will see a sign for Trapp Family Lodge.
