Day 01 Arrival / San Jose Airport :
Arrival. Meet and greet at the international airport and transfer to Bougainvillea for your first night in Costa Rica. Breakfast included.

Day 02 Shared Poas Volcano - Doka Cofee Tour & Butterfly garden :
Admire the imposing Poas Volcano from 2.708m (8.884ft) above sea level, and visit a unique coffee plantation and the historic city of Sarchi on this exciting day trip.

The tour's first stop is Poas Volcano National Park, where you will enjoy magnificent views of the Central Valley and the volcano's enormous crater - one of the biggest in the world!

Next, you will visit Doka Estate and its beautiful coffee plantations. Your tour guide will take you through the estate, visiting the plantations and the 96 year old "beneficio" or coffee mill. Having learned how premium coffee beans turn into a fabulous cup of java, you will enjoy a typical Costa Rican lunch.

Day 03 San Jose - Arenal :
After breakfast, a representative from Costa Rican Trails will take you on private transfer to the Arenal area.
One of the most active volcanoes of the world, cloud forests, a lake world-famous for windsurfing and an incredibly diverse population of wildlife is what you will find in this area. The flawless silhouette of Arenal Volcano, its loud rumblings and frequent explosions of lava and ash are a sight not to be missed by any visitor to Costa Rica.
In the afternoon - Shared Hike to Arenal Volcano & Ecotermales Hot Springs
The Arenal Volcano is active since 1968, it constantly ejects gases, water, fumaroles and explosions with pyroclastic material emissions, and sometimes the eruptions are accompanied with powerful thunders. The lava flows come out of the crater with a temperature up to 1 000 Centigrade. As the lava flows down it slowly cools off. A short hike in one of the trails close to the volcano area will give us the chance to enjoy some forest and the activity around it.

At the Ecotermales hot springs, you can enjoy a healthy and relaxing soak.

Day 04 Shared Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge :
A fascinating boat trip through a tropical wilderness, located in the North Atlantic lowland tropical forest. Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge is considered to be one of the richest sites for birdwatchers in this continent.
Duration: Full day.
Includes: Transportation, entrance fee, lunch & bilingual guide.

Day 05 Arenal - Monteverde :
Early in the morning, you will experience a lake crossing transfer towards Monteverde area.
Monteverde was founded about 40 years ago by a small group of conservation-minded Quakers who were looking for a peaceful place to live. The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is one of the most outstanding wild life sanctuaries in the tropics. This high elevation rain forest offers miles of trails with excellent opportunities for bird watching. The resplendent Quetzal is often sighted up here (mostly January to July). It is for this reason that more visitors are attracted to this private reserve than to any other in Costa Rica.
In the afternoon, you will be picked up at the hotel to start your Sky Walk Tour.

Sky Walk is a system of trails, suspension bridges, built within the Monteverde Cloud Forest that offers visitors the opportunity to observe and appreciate tropical forests from different vantage points. Duration: Half dayIncludes: Transportation,entrance fee & bilingual guide

Day 6 Shared Horseback Ride :
Enjoy a wonderful horseback ride tour through different sceneries of Santa Elena area. You'll pass through some secondary forest as well as open fields. Enjoy the beautiful mountain views, as well as the fresh clean mountain air!
Duration: 2 hours / Includes: Transportation, horses & guide.
Afternoon at leisure.

Day 07 Monteverde - Manuel Antonio :
After breakfast,private transfer to the world famous Manuel Antonio.
Considered to be Costa Rica's most beautiful, Manuel Antonio Park has enchanting white-sand beaches ideal for swimming, and tropical rainforest forest alive with wildlife.
Watch for the monkeys and iguanas who share the park with you. Most hotels are small and intimate, set high on a hill overlooking the rain forest, endless beaches and the national park. Options abound here! Whether you are looking for a romantic honeymoon hideaway or an action-packed visit, this premier destination has the answer.

Day 08 Shared Catamaran Coastal Adventure :
Discover our coastline, and climb aboard one of Costa Rica's fastest sailing experiences - our Catamaran Coastal Adventure - by day or sunset. For the adventurous traveler, this tour is for those looking to enjoy life to its fullest. Glide through crystal clear, aqua blue pacific waters, marvel at the unspoiled beaches of Manuel Antonio, explore the mysterious islands that lie just offshore our coast. After enjoying the tranquility of sailing these pristine waters, our Catamaran glides into a beautiful, protected bay so you can swim under the protected cover of our tropical jungle. Snorkel along the coral reefs near the coastline, discover our fascinating underwater domain, or rather, our underwater playground of tropical fish and exotic marine life. After lunch, private transfer back to San Jose.

What to Bring:


  • Clothing: Costa Rica is a very informal and casual country. Formal attire is only used in the city of San Jose and on very special occasions (Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries)
  • We recommend to bring a sweater for the highland areas, and light loose fitting shirts, pants or jeans, and shorts for the lowland areas.
  • For the beach areas please don't forget to bring a hat or cap, sunscreen, and sun glasses.
  • For the rainforest and the National Parks we recommend hiking boots, a small backpack, water bottle, pocket knife, flashlight, insect repellent, rainwear, and a pair of binoculars to observe animals.
