Day 1 Arrival/San Jose :
Meet and greet at the international airport and transfer to Bougainvillea, for your first night in Costa Rica.

Day 2 San Jose - Tortuguero :
Early morning pick up for the drive through Braulio Carrillo National Park to the canals lining the Atlantic Coast, where the three-hour boat trip to Tortuguero starts. A typical breakfast is served on the way. Tortuguero National Park preserves 21,000 hectares of tropical rain forest. The lodge will schedule boat trips into the jungle for wildlife observation with a local tour guide. (B/L/D)

Day 3 Tortuguero :
During the day you will enjoy the boat tours along the canals of Tortuguero.

Day 4 Tortuguero - San Jose :
After breakfast, return by boat to the dock near Limon, then overland to San Jose through Braulio Carrillo again. A typical lunch is served on the way.
Overnight at La Quinta de Sarapiqui, (B/L)

Day 5 Private Pozo Azul hike - Arenal :
After breakfast, time to explore under private basis with a naturalist guide the rainforest at the Pozo Azul Trails.
Hiking is an excellent way to both exercise and be closed to the environment
On the 2000 acres of tropical rain forest of Hacienda Pozo Azul you can use many hiking routes design to give you exactly what you want or need, Hiking does not require you to have be special physical condition or a particular age. Hacienda Pozo Azul has submitted all its 400 acres of forested areas to the Costa Rican government program for natural resource protection and conservation, therefore great part of our trails are located within this forests, because of their nature we request that you use a naturalist guide on some of the trails to help take full advantage of the fascinating and rich neotropical biodiversity during your hike. We know you will be fascinated with your experience.

Afternoon private transfer to the Arenal area.
Visit one of the most active volcanoes of the world, cloud forests, a lake world-famous for windsurfing and an incredibly diverse population of wildlife is what you will find in this area. The flawless silhouette of Arenal Volcano, its loud rumblings and frequent explosions of lava and ash are a sight not to be missed by any visitor to Costa Rica.

Day 6 Shared Arenal Hanging Bridges :
Located in a 250 hectare (618 acre) reserve of primary forest. Visitors will walk through 15 bridges from 5 to 100 meters long, along 3 km rain forest circuit of trails built with paving blocks to prevent slipping. Tour is guided by a naturalist, who will open the doors of a fascinating and colorful Tropical Rain Forest world. The imposing vistas of the Volcano from the hanging bridges over the forest, make a perfect combination for an unforgettable experience.

Shared Arenal Volcano Hike & Ecotermales Hot Springs
The Arenal Volcano is active since 1968, it constantly ejects gases, water, fumaroles and explosions with pyroclastic material emissions, and sometimes the eruptions are accompanied with powerful thunders. The lava flows come out of the crater with a temperature up to 1 000 Centigrade. As the lava flows down it slowly cools off. A short hike in one of the trails close to the volcano area will give us the chance to enjoy some forest and the activity around it.

At the Ecotermales hot springs, you can enjoy a healthy and relaxing soak.
Includes: Transportation, naturalist guide, entrance fee to hot springs & dinner.

Day 7 Shared Don Carlos Farm - San Jose :
Do you want to learn how to milk a cow? What a chapulin is? Yes, you can now do it at Don Carlos Farm, with over 30 years doing dairy farm labours. The Vargas family awaits you to share the wonder experience of been a real ''Costa Rican Lechero''.

The farm has 70 ha with lakes, gardens, rivers, medicinal plants, species, roots and fruit trees; and of course de grasslands where approximately 400 caws have their home and food. After de visit to the stable we will do a tour in a trailer pull by a ''chapulin'', the guide will tell you about the flora & founa of the area.

And for the last part of the tour we'll do a visit to the cheese factory and the dairy, you will learn the milk process for products such as: cream, cheese, yogurt, etc.; and the best of all: delicious snacks and cheese from the house.

Return in the afternoon to San Jose under private basis and check-in at the Country Inn & Suites for your last night in Costa Rica . Breakfast included.

Day 8 Departure :
Departure . Transfer to international airport.
End of services.

What to Bring:


  • Clothing: Costa Rica is a very informal and casual country. Formal attire is only used in the city of San Jose and on very special occasions (Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries)
  • We recommend to bring a sweater for the highland areas, and light loose fitting shirts, pants or jeans, and shorts for the lowland areas.
  • For the beach areas please don't forget to bring a hat or cap, sunscreen, and sun glasses.
  • For the rainforest and the National Parks we recommend hiking boots, a small backpack, water bottle, pocket knife, flashlight, insect repellent, rainwear, and a pair of binoculars to observe animals.
